How long does Hair and Make-up usually take?

In general, I like to allow 2 hours (1 hour for hair and 1 hour for makeup), but please note this is an estimate. Times may vary depending on the styles you have chosen, and your hair/skin type.

What should I have prepared before the day?

  • I recommend choosing a small selection of pictures that appeal to you and provide these to me in advance. This can help when you are explaining the look we will create.
  • A table or clear area that is by a natural light source, and near a power outlet.
  • Please wash your hair the night before and blow-dry it. Your hair should be completely dry and have no product in it before I arrive. I also ask that clients with curly or unruly hair have it straightened before I arrive.
  • Apply a light moisturiser but no other products to your face.
  • Have any hair accessories that you would like to use ready and on hand.
  • For the best experience and results try to ensure the space we are in is quiet and organised; and have your favourite chill out music handy.

Is there a travel fee?

Depending on your location I may require a travel fee to cover time and milage costs. Generally if it is less than 20km from Britomart, Auckland then it is free. I am happy to travel absolutely anywhere as long as travel is covered. See terms and conditions for more information.

Do I need a hair and make-up trial?

99% of people have a trial and I highly recommend it. I suggest you collect a small selection images that you would like to share with me. We can then discuss these and work out what would suit your personal features, style and dress. A trial gives us the opportunity to try these out. I may also be able to make suggestions you have not yet thought of that we can try as well.

Can I have a trial for any sort of occasion?

Yes of course! I would highly recommend a trail, especially if you find you are nervous about how you will look on the date. A trial gives us the opportunity to try different looks and discuss what would suit your personal features, style and dress. I may also be able to make suggestions you have not yet thought of that we can try as well.

When should I have my trial?

There is no set time frame to have your trial done. My recommendation is 1 month before the date, however if your having sleepless nights thinking about how you're going to look, you can have your trial up to 6 months prior to the day.

What should I do if I have skin sensitivities?

If you have any allergies or sensitivities you must let me know beforehand. I can not be held liable for any allergic reactions that occur. Please see terms and conditions for more information

What if I need to cancel?

Sometimes your plans do change, and with plenty of notice I will do my best to accommodate your changes however there are implications for your deposit and payment if changes are required at short notice. Please see terms and conditions for more information.

What if I need to get ready in a short time frame?

If you are a large group and need to get ready quickly, additional artists will need to be called in. This can incur and extra charge. I will always assign the minimum number of Artists required to achieve your requirements. Please note the available time frame for hair and make-up will impact on the number of Artists required as well, which we can discuss prior to the quote.

Do you come to us for hair and make-up?

Yes, I provide a fully mobile hair and make-up service.

What make-up brands do you use?

I mainly use M.A.C, as my Canadian roots defiantly make it a favourite.  I also find MAC works with most skin tones and styles due to the wide range of products. However I do like to have a variety of high quality products in my kit, from many top end brands.
